Promising Young Women Directors

NOMADLAND's Chloe Zhao is not the only promising director.  The history was made on 93rd Academy Awards' Best Director nomination, by two women.  Emerald Fennell's feature debut as director/writer, "Promising Young Woman" is in-between romantic comedy and revenge thriller, also she's the first British woman to be nominated for this genre.

Chloe Zhao was born in Beijing, 1987, raised in England, studied film in New York, her director debut, "Songs My Brother Taught Me" was recognized at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015.

Her second, "The Rider" premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2017, and won the Art Cinema Award.  As for her next release in November 2021 ?  "Eternals" of Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Surprise !
