"Gloria" Forever

The character she portrayed, the title role, became gloriously iconic, so unique, so tough, for cinema audiences, even in 1980,"Gloria" was a heroine, hero, anti-hero, all in one.

Gena Rowlands was nominated for the Oscar best actress, directed by her husband, John Cassavetes, her performance was subtle, yet hard-boiled, playing a protector, through action.

Her 1st nomination was from "A Woman Under the Influence", equally on-the-verge role, battling alcholism with her husband (Peter Falk).  She passed away at the age of 94.  Long, so tough.
