This description is more applicable to Shelley Duvall, much more than any other actresses in American cinema history.  She was probably most iconic as 'Olive Oyl', as much as Robin Williams' "Popeye (1980)".

But perhaps her most impressive work, her best performance, must be as "The Shining (1980)"'s wife, opposite Jack Nicholson's psychopathic husband, when her unique feature was ingeniously cast by Stanley Kubrick.

"My nickname has been Olive Oyl, since when I was a kid.", she said, her other comedy roles would be missed by movie fans, as she closed the curtain on her.  She was 75 years of age.
