The Player

There were movie characters only Donald Sutherland could play.  Or, film productions, directors, casting, and most of all, stories, could have imagined Donald Sutherland first for the role.

It is impossible to mention this prolific actor's best work, but perhaps the Academy Award Best Picture winner, Robert Redford directed "Ordinary People" on top, and always Robert Altman's "M*A*S*H".

Or, probably he's remembered as Kiefer's father, the son shared not only his resemblance, but the unique, eccentric presence in film & television history.  The father, passed away at the age of 88, in Miami, suffering from long term illness.
